Spring Fling 2010
Flingin’ it since 1965!
Last night, the Head Of The Charles Regatta hosted its annual Spring Fling at Regatta headquarters here in the Cambridge Boat Club. Each year, Regatta staff holds the event to bring the organizers of the world’s largest two-day rowing competition together before Regatta planning kicks into full gear. The theme of this year’s Spring Fling was “Oktoberfest.” Why give tribute to the German beer festival in June you might ask? The planners of the Regatta never get the chance to enjoy the other offerings of the fall as they are too busy planning the HOCR!

Guests were treated to Jack Bakey’s famous brats and sausages with a fine IPA provided by HOCR patron Long Trail Bewing Co. (sadly it’s a bit hard to get a real Oktoberfest brew in the middle of summer!) Everyone’s sweet tooth was satisfied by the Spring Fling bake-off, won for the second year running by Natasha Strom, a Technology and Communications Committee co-chair.

All guests were treated to a classic HOCR top; Carlos (below) was quick to try it our. The clock is ticking, the 46th HOCR is only 129 days away!
